John White, in his last season playing the tour full time, still had all of his explosive offensive creativity and wonderful all court competitiveness in hand. White always plays at his best in New York. Opposing him was the mercurial Gregory Gaultier, who has risen to be one of the world's top three, also a highly offensive-minded talent, making for wonderful and enthralling squash.
