NORTHERN CANADA CANOE EXPLORATION - Caniapiscau River, Nunavat
278 pages, 32 color photos
This book chronicles a 49 day canoe expedition through untraveled, far northern, Quebec on the edge of the Arctic. The narrative follows four individuals down one of the most difficult rivers in North America, the Caniapiscau, through wind, rain, snow, sleet, cold, rapids, gorges and waterfalls. At one point in the trip the group of four were windbound on a large lake for four days. At another point, they were forced into a 13 mile portage over extremely rough country.
At another point, they suffered a capsize in a treacherous rapid in frigid waters.
This journey of adventure, discovery, beauty and hardship is set in the historical context of a barely traveled land that has hardly changed in centuries.
This was one of the last trips down this river before a massive dam project in 1979 diverted this great wild river.

Praise for "The River Less Traveled":
Your book is real paddler's treasure. My girlfriend read it in three days. I was busy in January, but now I am on it, reading it in much slower & thorough pace. Right now I am at the chapter where you guys left Eaton Canyon behind and are approaching Granite Falls. - LK, Ottawa Canada.
